Russia has accused Australia of blindly following Britain in its decision to expel two spies saying it goes against common sense. Australia has given the two diplomats a week to leave the country. More than 100 Russian diplomats are being expelled from over 20 countries over the poisoning of a former Russian spy and his daughter in the UK. Russia continues to deny any involvement.

Cardinal George Pell's legal team has taken aim at ABC journalist Louise Milligan accusing the 730 reporter of distorting the information she provided audiences in a bid to "poison the public's mind" about the cardinal. Cardinal Pell's lawyer asked why inconsistencies in a complainant's account of alleged inappropriate behaviour by cardinal Pell were not highlighted in Ms Milligan's story.
